What will you be financing?

LOHAD develops unique experiences based on the concept of “sustainable hedonism” - the conviction that it is possible to provide pleasure in a conscious and responsible way.

Its most established project is Chefs on Fire, a gastronomic festival now in its 14th edition, held across Portugal and Spain. Building on that experience, LOHAD is preparing EatXhibition, a new project that brings Portuguese gastronomy into a museum setting, planned for 2027 at the Palácio Nacional da Ajuda, in Lisbon.

This campaign refinances the loan that funded the 2026 edition of Chefs on Fire in Cascais, which matures in October 2026, on the same terms as LOHAD's previous campaigns.

Refinancing this loan preserves the group's operating cash flow and, in turn, allows LOHAD to begin preparing EATXHIBITION, planned for 2027 at the Palácio Nacional da Ajuda. The funds raised through this campaign will allow the promoter to prepare the event ahead of the ticket sales, sponsorships, and public funding - including a Turismo de Portugal grant application still awaiting confirmation - that the event is expected to bring in once it opens.

This is LOHAD's sixth Goparity campaign, after successfully funding 1.500.000€ across  Chefs on Fire I, II, III ,  IV, and V to finance events in Portugal, Spain, and Brazil.

EatXhibition takes gastronomy off the plate and onto the walls and corridors of a museum. Visitors follow a route where Portuguese dishes are treated as works of art, tasted rather than only viewed.

The project starts from the idea that food carries meaning beyond the table - how people cook, eat, and gather says something about how they see themselves and their place in the world. EatXhibition treats Portuguese food culture as a form of cultural and anthropological expression, presenting it in a museum format usually reserved for painting, sculpture, or architecture.

The exhibition is designed as a route through 10 rooms, each built around a dish, ritual, or memory from Portuguese food culture. Every room presents an edible or drinkable item as a museum piece before it is served to visitors to taste. The set design is being built to be modular, so it can be taken apart and reassembled in other venues, supporting LOHAD's plan to bring the format to other countries after its first edition in Portugal.

What is the impact?

Promotion of sustainable tourism that creates jobs and promotes local culture and products: the project’s sustainability proposition is closely linked to the promotion of Portuguese gastronomy as a cultural asset. Each room is centred around a Portuguese regional dish, creating a direct connection between the visitor experience and Portuguese culinary traditions, while the exhibition itself is designed to showcase local products, producers and artisanal food practices.

Protection and safeguarding of cultural and natural heritage: the project also presents a cultural heritage dimension by bringing Portuguese food culture into recognised heritage sites (museums) and framing gastronomy within a formal cultural context. The underlying premise is that recipes, culinary techniques and the knowledge associated with Portuguese food traditions constitute an important part of the country’s intangible heritage and deserve to be recognised alongside other forms of cultural expression. This positioning aligns with the broader objective of preserving and transmitting cultural heritage through new formats and audiences.

About the Promoter

About
L.O.H.A.D, LDA

LOHAD was founded in 2019 by Gonçalo Castel-Branco, as a channel for sustainable creativity. The company, which currently has around 15 employees, is based in Lisbon.

The promoter creates sustainable entertainment events and positions itself as one of the main national players in the industry. It aims to continue to reposition national gastronomy as a cultural and social tool and to inspire people and companies to behave in a way that is better for their bodies and the planet.

In all its gastronomic projects, LOAHD tries to apply a simple structure as the basis for a larger conversation about who we are, the stories and habits that we care about and maintain - incredible food - that is good for those who consume it, for the community and the planet:

  • Good for the community because they choose and promote local producers and stories.
  • Good for those who consume, by trying to make customers fall in love with quality, what that represents, and educating them about the importance of their choices.
  • Good for the planet because they present a varied diet with minimal environmental and social impact.

With the Presidential project, LOHAD was awarded the prize for best public event in the world (by the BEA Awards), the prize for innovative event by the National Tourism Awards (Expresso and BPI); with Chefs on Fire, the prize for best gastronomic event by the National Tourism Awards (Expresso and BPI); Event of the Year in 2021 by Time Out and Event of the Year by Mesa Marcada. Gonçalo Castel-Branco was, among other awards, classified as one of the 10 best Marketeers in the country by the Clube dos Criativos and honored by the Congress of Cooks for his "contribution to the growth and promotion of Portuguese gastronomy".
