Bosquia Nature

Bosquia Nature is a company from Asturias specialising in nature-based solutions, with reforestation at the core of its activity. Since its founding in 2019, it has carried out more than 400 forest restoration projects across Spain, also extending its activity to Portugal. It registers its projects with Spain's Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), and also facilitates access to international carbon credit mechanisms such as Verra and Gold Standard. It has developed reforestation projects for companies such as AstraZeneca, MasOrange, Canon and Redeia. It also holds ISO 14001 (environmental management), ISO 14064 (carbon footprint) and ISO 9001 (quality management) certifications, along with B Corp accreditation.

Southern Europe is losing forest. Every summer, fire spreads faster than nature can regenerate on its own, and behind every burnt hectare, far more than trees is lost: biodiversity is lost, fertile soil is lost, the land's capacity to sustain life is lost. And this loss almost always happens in the same places: emptying Spain, rural areas where fewer and fewer people remain to look after the land, and where a wildfire doesn't just destroy the landscape, it also pushes out those still holding on. This campaign aims to finance the reforestation of 50 hectares spread across different parts of southern Europe, wherever the land needs it most.

Bosquia doesn't act immediately on recently burnt land: each area is studied first to determine when and how to intervene, respecting the soil's natural regeneration time before planting native species - holm oak, oak, chestnut, strawberry tree, willow and pine - chosen to restore the biodiversity fire took from each ecosystem: habitat for wildlife, refuge for species left without a home, and soil able to sustain life again.

That's why Bosquia pursues a triple impact in every project: environmental, social, and economic. Environmental, because every reforested hectare recovers biodiversity and captures carbon. Social, because the landowner - often the last person still looking after that land - is involved from the start, and part of the benefit generated stays in the village where the work takes place, giving a real economic reason not to leave. And economic, because this model, spread across different territories rather than concentrated in one place, lets Bosquia work with companies looking to commit to several areas of the country at once, sustaining the activity that makes it possible to repay this investment.

The funds raised through this campaign go toward the full execution of the project: 55% to planting (species selection, land preparation, certified nursery stock and labour), 20% to monitoring and maintenance during the first years - including replacing failed plantings -, 15% to formalising the agreement with landowners and the payments tied to their involvement in the project, and 10% to registering and certifying the projects with MITECO's CO2 Absorption Registry. The estimated cost of the project is €10,000 per hectare.
