What will you be financing?

The aim of this campaign is to finance a photovoltaic plant for self-consumption at Solos e Declives Olivicultura, Lda, a Portuguese, in based in Beja, Alentejo region that is focused on production of olives for olive oil processing. The photovoltaic plant will have a total of 37kW of installed power, which will allow it to produce 58 MWh of clean energy per year.

This type of solar project has can improve agricultural activity in less developed rural regions and has the potential to improve structures and modernize agriculture activity. Although the company's activity is not sustainability-oriented this campaign will contribute to the decarbonization of the Portuguese agricultural sector.  

The construction of the solar plant and installation of the panels will be carried out by LuzVerde, a Portuguese company with over ten years of experience in providing energy services. Luz Verde is also the installer of six other projects funded through Goparity:  Intermarché Solar I and II, Solar Paintings, Solar Car Wash, Solarize Cuba, Solar footwear factory, and Solar Consultants.

What is the impact?

Direct

  • Contributing to the decarbonization of the economy, helping to avoid the emission of CO2: with an estimated clean energy production of more than 58 MWh, the solar plant will help avoid the emission of 7.87 tonnes of CO2 per year, the equivalent to planting 358 trees.
  • Cost reduction for the final client: the decentralized energy production through renewable sources, close to the consumption site, helps to avoid distribution costs, making this a more competitive option than reverting to the national grid. Furthermore, the decreased dependency of the company on the national grid, makes it less vulnerable to price fluctuations and fiscal charges.

Indirect

  • Improvement of agricultural activity in less developed regions: the installation of solar panels in the region of Beja has the potential to improve structures and modernize agriculture activity.


Moreover, for each developed project, the promoter will take one of the two following initiatives, according to its environmental policy:

  • Donate 0.5€ for each kW of green energy installed to a non-profit organization.
  • Donate a tree for each kW of green energy installed.
  • Set up of a photovoltaic plant of 1% of the project’s installed power for a non-profit organization in the project’s region.
