What will you be financing?

Fibratech aims to use engineering to improve quality of life. They are a company focused on the water and sanitation construction sector, and their mission is to bring safe and accessible water to those who need it most. The company is seeking 500.000,00€ to strengthen its operations, boost efficiency, and support international expansion. The use of the funds will be divided into two main areas:

  • Operational efficiency and technology evaluation: finance the research, validation, and potential adoption of a new fibreglass manufacturing technology designed to optimise on-site construction of tanks. The system —composed of a semi-circular section mould, silicone membrane and infusion set, and a Busch vacuum pump with a 100-litre tank and analogue vacuum system — aims to enable easier and faster tank assembly directly at construction sites, significantly reducing manual labour and installation times. This evaluation phase will include laboratory testing and field studies to assess the technical, economic, and environmental viability of the technology. If the results are favourable, the company will proceed with the acquisition and implementation of the equipment. Based on projections, adopting this system could increase operational margins by 3–8%, reduce specialised workforce needs by up to 70%, and cut installation times by around 60%, leading to faster, more cost-efficient, and sustainable project execution.
  • Working Capital and Liquidity: strengthen short-term liquidity, refinance existing financial obligations with local banks that currently maintain high interest rates, and provide additional working capital to execute three ongoing water infrastructure projects — two in Colombia and one in Guatemala. By accessing financing at more favourable rates, the company can allocate greater resources to expand its operations and amplify its social and environmental impact.

This investment will allow Fibratech to continue improving its production efficiency, expand its reach to vulnerable communities, and maintain its strong commitment to sustainability and social impact through clean water access.

Access to water should not be a privilege, and that's why Fibratech is working to make water supply projects viable in vulnerable communities and areas with historically limited access, such as La Guajira. To do so, and focused on minimal environmental impact, Fibratech's construction models represent a sustainable alternative to traditional methods with three principles:

  • Innovation: design and build complete solutions that include mega-storage tanks, reverse osmosis desalination systems, and clean energy supply through solar panels.
  • Competitive costs: their mega-tanks and engineering solutions are highly cost-effective.
  • Reduced footprint: Unlike most large-scale projects that rely on concrete, their technology is lighter and more modular. This drastically reduces the need to transport heavy materials, thereby significantly lowering each project's carbon footprint.

Fibratech's goal is to keep building tangible solutions that improve infrastructure and bring health to thousands of people while actively protecting natural resources.

What is the impact?

Ensuring equitable access to affordable drinking water: in Colombia, around 1.3 Million people don’t have access to clean water close to home - WaterAid. Among other projects, Fibratech develops water treatment and storage programs in areas historically affected by water scarcity or remote areas with poor water quality. Of Fibratech’s sales, approximately 45% come from high social impact projects. Examples of this, include 27 communities in La Guajira that now have drinking water and municipalities like Campeche and Luruaco, which went from receiving water sporadically (every 10 days) to having constant access. For 2025, Fibratech plans to build a big water tank in the district of Colombia, in Sabanalarga, and another in the district of Molinera, both aimed at providing 24-hour access to safe drinking water. Additionally, in August/September, new projects in La Guajira will be launched with the purpose of ensuring continuous access to potable water.

Increasing resilience and adaptation to climate change related risks: by providing access to safely managed water in remote areas, Fibratech is minimizing the effects that climate changes (such as droughts) have on these communities.

Promotion of integrated water management and conservation strategies: access to a safely managed water supply is still a big concern for a lot of Colombian households. Efficient water management is therefore a major concern. Through highly efficient tanks and infrastructure, Fibratech ensures that no water is wasted along the distribution lines.

Increase sustainable and efficient use of raw materials: Fibratech has a big concern in introducing sustainable practices in their production chain to the reduce the carbon footprint of fiberglass production:

  • The resin, the main material in terms of consumption, comes from recycled plastic bottles, thus preventing more than 300 tons of PET plastics per month from ending up as waste.

  • Forty percent of the wasted fiberglass is recycled internally.

  • The patent, developed by Fibratech, for stackable tanks significantly reduces the amount of transportation required. The material used is very lightweight (compared to alternatives), which facilitates transport and application in hard-to-access projects.

Modernization of infrastructures to make them more sustainable: the new technology optimizes material usage, significantly reducing waste and the necessary thicknesses. By using more efficient methods such as vacuum spraying, mechanical and structural resistance is increased, thus reducing the total amount of raw material required.  Currently, the fiberglass waste is around 5%. With the introduction of the new technology in the process, the goal is to reduce this number down to 1%.
