Why has the verification of my identity failed?

There are several reasons why your identity validation may have failed:


  • Unreadable document: Parts of the document are blurry, dark, or unclear. The scan/image quality is poor, or the MRZ band is cut or covered.
  • Incomplete document: Information is missing, pages have not been fully submitted, or the MRZ band is partially/totally missing.
  • Document not accepted: The submitted document is not valid (e.g., ID card from a non-EU national).
  • Expired document: The document is no longer valid.
  • Document belongs to a minor: The user is underage.
  • Mismatched names: The name(s) and surname(s) on the document do not match the ones on your profile. In this case, we may need to correct the information manually, which can delay the process.


Important: The digital version of Portuguese citizen cards (Cartão do Cidadão) is not accepted because our system cannot verify its authenticity (no MRZ band).

If your verification fails, you will receive an email explaining the reason and providing instructions on how to resolve the issue.
