The Verification of Payee (VOP) is a new security measure that ensures your top-ups and withdrawals go to the right account.
It’s part of the EU Instant Payments Regulation — Regulation (EU) 2024/886 — which requires payment service providers (PSPs) in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) to verify that the account holder’s name and IBAN match before a transfer goes through.
This adds an extra layer of protection for our users by ensuring that all transfers are made safely and only to verified accounts, helping prevent fraud, misdirected payments, and errors caused by incorrect account details.
How does the VOP affect withdrawals?
When you request a withdrawal from your Goparity wallet, the VOP check will compare the bank account details you provide with the name registered on your Goparity account.
There are four possible results:
💡 Tip: Review your saved bank accounts and remove any for which you’re not the account holder.
How does the VOP affect top-ups?
When you make a top-up by bank transfer, Mangopay (our payment services provider) verifies that the sender’s name matches the name on your Goparity profile.
If the names don’t match, the transfer will be rejected and the funds returned to the account of origin.
To avoid this, always use a bank account in your name when topping up your Goparity wallet.
Does this affect top-ups by card?
No. The VOP process only applies to bank transfers, not to card payments.
Does this affect direct debits?
No. The VOP does not affect direct debit mandates linked to your secondary wallet.
What happens if there is a close match?
You will be informed and can continue at your own risk, knowing that the transfer might not go through.
