This campaign aims to finance a photovoltaic self-consumption system at Fernando Manuel Cardoso, a Portuguese company in the automotive repair and maintenance sector based in Viseu.

The installation and operation of the solar panels will be carried out by the campaign promoter: Solcor Portugal, specialising in solar installations.
Fernando Manuel Cardoso is a multi‑brand automotive repair and maintenance workshop with more than 10 years of activity in Viseu. The company provides a wide range of services, including electronic diagnostics, periodic servicing, general mechanics, brake and suspension system repairs, wheel alignment, tyre replacement, air conditioning services, oil changes, and pre‑inspection checks for the mandatory vehicle inspection (IPO). Over the years, it has built a relationship of trust with its clients, grounded in service quality and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction for those seeking reliable solutions for their vehicles. With this investment in solar energy, the company strengthens its commitment to sustainability and the energy transition.
The contract signed between Solcor Portugal and the company includes the installation of a 18,00 kWp solar photovoltaic system for self-consumption, composed of 30 panels (600W each), one inverter, and a storage system with 15 kWh of batteries, allowing the surplus solar energy to be stored for later use. The solar and battery system is expected to cover 66% of Fernando Manuel Cardoso’s energy needs, ensuring a 73% reduction in electricity costs.

This is Solcor's thirtieth-first campaign. 19 of the 30 previous campaigns financed solar energy for social organizations: Social Solar Solcor, Social Solar Solcor II, Social Solar Solcor III, Social Solar Solcor IV, Social Solar Solcor V, Social Solar Solcor VI, Social Solar Solcor VII, Social Solar Solcor VIII, Social Solar Solcor IX, Social Solar Solcor X, Social Solar Solcor XI, Social Solar Solcor XII, Social Solar Solcor XIII, Social Solar Solcor XIV, Social Solar Solcor XV, Social Solar Solcor XVI, Social Solar Solcor XVII, Social Solar Solcor XVIII, and Social Solar Solcor XIX.
Direct
Contribution to the decarbonisation of Portugal, avoiding CO2 emissions: with a total production of clean energy of over 24 MWh per year, the solar plant will avoid the emission of more than 2 tonnes of CO2 per year. This is equivalent to the CO2 absorption of 122 trees.
Cost reduction for the end customer: decentralized energy production through renewable sources, close to the place of consumption, helps to avoid distribution costs, this being the most competitive option. In addition, the company's lower dependence on the national grid makes it less vulnerable to price fluctuations and tax charges.
To maximize this effect, this PPA will be equipped with three 6kWh batteries. Altogether these measures allow the company to reduce it’s energy costs by 73%.
Indirect
Promoting sustainable business: the project developed for Fernando Manuel Cardoso, Unipessoal Lda is an example of the applicability of solar power for any business, and in this case serves as a benchmark to similar industries, an important step towards sustainability for businesses in Portugal.
