Kleta is a bicycle and e-bike company that champions the idea that cycling can significantly lower our carbon footprint and transform lives by fostering a healthier, more enjoyable commuting alternative. 

Kleta is a pioneer in the eBike subscription and sales sector in Spain contributing to the transition from carbon-intensive transport towards electric bikes in the commuting setting. With over 2100 subscribers, Kleta is dedicated to expanding its impact by promoting eco-friendly transportation. 

The capital raised through this campaign will contribute to fund the build-out of Kleta's new store footprint model in its first and second locations in Barcelona, marking a significant milestone for the company. 

These new locations will not only broaden Kleta's assortment of eBikes and accessories but also diversify its business model to include both subscriptions and a heavier emphasis on direct sales. This strategic expansion will empower Kleta to further accelerate the transition from car reliance to bicycle commuting, catering to the precise needs of potential eBike commuters.

  • Promotion of accessible and sustainable urban mobility with lower environmental impact: in 2023, Kleta has had on average 1960 monthly people cycling their bikes through Spanish cities. Their subscription business model enables people to experience commuting with a bike and consider making it their main means of transportation. They also offer e-bikes and several accessories such as children’s seats or trailers, making the possibility of cycling through the city a more realistic option for families. Also, through Kleta’s repair network, they offer users easy repairs and maintenance for their bikes
  • Decarbonization of transport and cities: The use of electric bikes for daily commuting contributes to decarbonizing cities and improving air quality since they are non-polluting methods of transportation. The use of Kleta bikes in 2023 avoided up to 749 tonnes of CO2, in comparison to emissions from cars, had they been used for the average kilometers traveled by Kleta bikes. Since 70% of Kleta users affirm, that they have switched to a bike from carbon-heavy transportation, Kleta has avoided 524.3 tonnes of CO2 emissions, by replacing cars with bikes, which is the equivalent of the absorption of over 23 thousand trees yearly. Additionally, all bikes in circulation saved on average around 12.400 m2 of space in traffic reduction in 2023 – that is the equivalent space that almost 10 Olympic-sized swimming pools take up.

  • Promotion of healthy lifestyles and well-being: increased cycling habits in cities contribute to air quality and road safety, when it replaces individual motorized transport, and to healthier lifestyles from exercise.

Kleta is donating bikes to households affected by the floods in Valencia

In response to floods in Valencia that damaged over 100,000 cars, Kleta launched a campaign to provide bikes as a quick transport solution for affected families.

The initial goal is to assign 250 refurbished bikes, with the support of the community – you can learn more and contribute here.

The first bikes were delivered last weekend, with more to follow in the coming weeks.

Kleta has opened its flagship store in Barcelona, which was the goal for the fundraising of their first campaign. In the picture above, you can see the store front, open for business.

Since the funding of the first campaign, Kleta kept growing their subscription model offered by companies to their employees, launching with companies like Concentrix and Webhelp. Also, Kleta has partnered with Brompton to be the first provider in Spain to offer their foldable bikes and e-bikes in subscription and renting models.

Kleta plans to keep expanding, and for that is looking to raise funds in a second campaign through Goparity, Kleta II.
