Quinta do Alfeijoal has installed Portugal's first super-intensive organic olive grove, also known as a hedge grove.
After raising €20,000 through the Quinta do Alfeijoal I campaign to finance agricultural operations, this new campaign aims to install a photovoltaic power plant on the promoter’s land to decarbonize their activities.
Quinta do Alfeijoal intends to continue developing and optimizing its organic production methods, creating a resilient and circular ecosystem. Strategically, their commercial focus is on exporting Portuguese organic and conventional agricultural products to major distribution chains in Nordic countries, complementing their olive oil offerings with wines and cheeses. The olive grove was inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture and Food in April 2022, and has been highlighted as an example of organic production combining sustainability techniques, cultural practices, and energy autonomy, thereby achieving greater profitability than conventional agriculture.
Contribution to Portugal's decarbonization by avoiding CO2 emissions: With a total production of over 49 MWh of clean energy per year, the solar installation will prevent the emission of approximately 4.2 tons of CO2 annually. This is equivalent to the CO2 absorption of 194 trees.

Loans granted to the promoter Positive Gravity, Unipessoal, LDA by investors will have the following guarantees, provided for in the loan agreements associated with the campaign:
Positivegravity is an agricultural company that manages the 64 hectares of Quinta do Alfeijoal, integrally certified in MPB (organic production method), including 38 hectares of irrigated olive grove, 4 hectares of rainfed olive grove, 16 hectares of forest and a small vineyard and walnut grove.
Quinta do Alfeijoal dates back to the XVIII century and was one of the largest holdings in the region, with an olive grove and olive press, vineyard, winery, fig grove, and distillery. After twenty years of abandonment, partly due to the family's rural exodus, a member of the 5th generation returned to the countryside. Here he installed the first super-intensive irrigated biological olive grove in Portugal.
The promoter has been distinguished with four honorable mentions:
The company worked with the Portuguese NGO OIKOS to support their program with Small Organic Banana Communities in Peru, responsible for the first organic banana importation to Portugal as part of a FairTrade project.
With a degree in Marketing and a Master's in Retail Management, Nuno complemented his academic background with agronomic technical training focused on irrigation, plant nutrition, organic M.P., and olive growing. Nuno has over two decades of experience in business development for multinationals, sales, marketing, and logistics. At the same time, moved by other interests, Nuno also worked as a university professor and was in the creator of the first TEDx event in Portugal. At Quinta do Alfeijoal, Nuno is responsible for operations, technically supported by Manuel Castro e Brito, a renowned olive grower from Beja, and Professor Jose Manuel Ucles from Jaen University in Spain.
Initially, the company was focused on making Quinta do Alfeijoal productive again.
The promoter's current goal is the implementation of a solar panel, using an environmental strategy focused on energy, to obtain a profitable and sustainable production.
