Financing the production of 49 phone booths for open-space offices.

Description

To answer the problem of the lack of meeting rooms for calls or video calls in modern open-space offices, Offcoustic designs simple and modern acoustic cabins, produced in Portugal, in a sustainable way, with high ethical considerations and competitive prices - the Phone Booth for One, the Focus Booth for Two and the Meeting Booth for Two.

After the first successful campaign where the promotor raised 45.000€ to finance 12 booths, Offcoustic now wants to raise an additional 75.000€ to co-finance another 49 units.

The product has been developed and marketed in Portugal, Spain, and the UK over the last three years following a continuous learning and growth process.

Taking into account that there is demand for varying numbers of Phone Booths for set periods of time, Offcoustic has recently launched a subscription model. For a competitive monthly price, it now offers its clients the use of the booths, its maintenance, and the possibility of changing the number of units or terminating the contract.

This modality allows Offcoustic to think from a circular economy perspective, where the product's life cycle and the quality of materials are optimized. With this incentive to create more durable products, improve maintenance processes, and create greener logistics, Offcoustic is moving away from a business model that is dependent on rapid consumption.

Since its first campaign in January 2022, Offcoustic has been met with increasing demand from coworking spaces, SMEs, and startups (check out the website and read the testimonials). Its offer of the "Phone Booth as a Service" is especially appealing for the flexibility it offers. At this moment there are 59 units installed or in production and no customer has canceled their subscription. Finally, Offcoustic maintains the sale of booths for customers interested in purchasing the product directly.  

The Impact

Direct

  • Promotion of responsible production: production is based on demand and not on scale. Offcoustic intends to implement a circular economy flow in which they own the fleet of booths and thus, invest in its maintenance, to keep them functioning the longest period possible. 94 booth units in total have been installed or are in production now to be installed until June.
  • Incentive to local economy: production happens in Portugal, working with Portuguese carpenters, and using mostly Portuguese materials.

Indirect

  • Offset of carbon footprint: for every unit produced Offcoustic plants 100 trees. Until now, Offcoustic has financed the planting of 3.100 trees, which you can check out here, and have already ordered to plant another 6.300.

Financial viability

This campaign aims to co-finance the production costs of 49 Phone Booths, that have been pre-ordered. The total cost of the booths will be 120.000€ of which 45,000€ will be financed through the promotor's own capital and 75.000€ through GoParity's investor community. 

The units will be installed in 30 days, corresponding to the grace period of capital, after which the loan will be paid back using the value of the monthly subscriptions for the rental of the booths. 

All Phone Booths are mobile and can be moved between offices and companies according to the subscription plan which has a minimum term of six months.

The Promoter

About WITHOUT HURRY - LDA

WITHOUT HURRY, LDA is the company behind Offcoustic. It emerged in 2020 to launch its line of affordable Phone Booths. These booths are produced in Portugal, with sustainable processes, to create spaces for calls and video calls in open-space offices and companies or coworking spaces.

The promoter has expanded its operations in Portugal, Spain, UK, USA, Germany, Malta, Croatia and Gibraltar.

Although it is not possible to find a completely ecological solution for production, the company is moving in this direction with Tree Planting, choosing the right materials, local production, and optimizing transport.

Today, Offcoustic:

  • finances the production of Trees in Portugal and some African countries through the Brynk.eco platform.
  • only produces according to orders;
  • Uses Felt made in Portugal (acoustic material used in the automotive industry, from reused materials).
  • Produces in Portugal, in Vendas Novas.

Rodrigo holds a degree in management from Universidade Cátolica de Lisboa. This 28-year-old considers himself a Creative Generalist and an Optimistic Analytic. He founded Offcoustic in 2019 and works full-time as CEO of the company that he grew from scratch. He has experience working in Startups in the areas of Business Development and Partnerships. His passion for music since the age of 4 has led him to perform more than 100 concerts and to learn about audio and acoustics.
