PV plant for self-consumption in Colégio da Gandarinha
Description
Colégio da Gandarinha school teaches and promotes activities for kids starting from Kindergarten all the way to Elementary School. The project come as an initiative to promote and teach environmental sustainability to its students. The school is, thus, looking for funding to install two 26,80 kWp self-consumption photovoltaic plants in its facilities.
The Impact
Both solar power plants combined enable energetic self-sufficiency in around 40%. The yearly estimate of solar energy produced is about 40MWh, which, when obtained through the panels, equals to the non-emission of 11 tons of CO2, which is the same positive impact generated by the plantation of around 490 trees.

About Fundação Condessa de Penha Longa
Fundação Condessa de Penha Longa is a non-profit Foundation who runs Colégio da Gandarinha school, promotes teaching activities for about 230 children from Kindergarten to Elementary School, including after school rec-centre. Founded in 1876, devoted itself to raising less privileged children from around the area and providing them access to quality education.
Business Model
The energy savings from the solar power plants will allow the Foundation to reduce its main expense stream - electricity - which will be higher than the project's financial costs.
