Electrifying logistics in Africa

Description

Bisedge is a pan-African green logistics company that provides electric-powered forklifts and operators to help businesses reduce fuel use, cut emissions, and improve efficiency.

This funding campaign is dedicated to their operations in Nigeria, where the goal is to acquire and deploy additional electric forklifts for industrial clients. The funds will be used to cover the purchase of the forklifts as well as shipment costs, import duties, charging equipment, and spare parts.

By expanding its fleet in Nigeria, Bisedge will replace more diesel-powered machines with electric alternatives, reducing both operating costs for clients and greenhouse gas emissions in the country’s industrial sector.

The project has a dual purpose:

  • Environmental Impact: Each electric forklift avoids up to 55.000 litres of diesel annually, reducing about 143 tons of CO₂. With a larger electric fleet, this translates into thousands of tons of avoided emissions each year, while also improving air quality and lowering noise at warehouses.
  • Social Impact: Every forklift generates up to 3.5 direct jobs across three shifts. Bisedge currently employs over 1.000 people, all on permanent contracts with full benefits including health insurance for employees, their spouse, and up to four children. The company is also creating opportunities for women through its female operator program, which has already trained nearly 100 women forklift operators to date. The long-term ambition is to reach a 30:70 female-to-male workforce ratio by 2029.

Investing in this project will contribute to the electrification of logistics in Nigeria while also enabling the creation of secure, socially protected jobs in an industry that traditionally relies on casual labour.

This is the promoter's first campaign of a series aimed to raise 2M€ through Goparity to fund operational costs and equipment purchase in the last quarter of 2025 and throughout 2026.

The Impact

  • Promoting more sustainable production methods: Bisedge’s logistics operations rely on a fleet of 275 forklifts of which 92% are already eletric. With the support of this financing, Bisedge will continue electrifying its fleet by adding 8 new electric forklifts. Each electric forklift replaces the annual consumption of approximately 55.000 liters of diesel, displacing around 143 tons of CO₂ per year. After factoring in 28.11 tons of emissions from battery charging, this results in a net reduction of 114,8 tons of CO₂ per forklift annually — this project will avoid an estimated 912 tons of CO₂ emissions per year. In parallel, Bisedge is deepening its commitment to sustainability. It is partnering with its OEM, Linde, to develop a battery recycling program and will begin recycling used tires into school sandals for students in its local community.
  • Promoting a climate resilient strategy: The electrification of Bisedge’s forklift fleet represents an effort from the company to bring a positive transformation to the logistic sector. Namely:
    • Reducing the amount of CO2 emissions.
    • Extending equipment lifecycle. With proper battery care and refurbishment strategies, electric forklifts can be maintained and reused longer than their diesel counterparts.
  • Creating jobs and promoting safe work environments in the logistics sector: For each forklift deployed, 3,7 jobs are created, including 3,5 forklift operator roles and 0.2 support roles such as supervisors, technicians, and administrative staff. This financing will create 29 additional jobs and bring improved working conditions to the sector. Namely:
    • Improved Air Quality. Electric forklifts produce zero tailpipe emissions, which significantly reduces the concentration of harmful pollutants in indoor and outdoor industrial environments.
    • Lower Noise Pollution. Electric forklifts operate much more quietly than diesel models, contributing to safer and more comfortable working environment.
    • Lower Heat Emissions: Electric forklifts generate less heat during operation, which helps maintain safer and more controlled temperatures in the workplace.
  • Ensuring equal opportunities and participation of women in the logistics sector: The logistics sector is still heavily reliant on male workers. Bisedge is working to create equal opportunities with its Female Operator Program, which trains and places women as forklift operators. Currently only around 10% of operator’s are female but Bisedge has set the goal of raising this mark to 30% already by 2028. Through this program, the company not only provides access to technical training and employment but also actively encourages career progression with several examples of women progressing to higher roles.

Financial viability

Bisedge’s loan funds a clear, cash-flow-backed business model: leasing electric forklifts under long-term service contracts to leading consumer goods and industrial companies such as Coca-Cola and other FMCG brands. These contracts generate predictable recurring revenues that match well against the fixed-term debt provided by Goparity investors. Main risks lie in changes in currency exchange rates(EUR debt vs. NGN revenues), client concentration, and local infrastructure reliability, but these are mitigated through offshore structuring, pass-through pricing mechanisms, and multinational clients with strong payment capacity. Overall, the business model is considered financially sound, with risks that are identifiable and mitigatable.

This promoter also relies on TRINE AB (org. nr. 559003-1463), a Swedish crowdfunding service provider, to finance different parts of its business activities.

This project has a minimum target of 200.000,00€.

As stated in Part B of the KIIS document (Key Investment Information Sheet), the minimum targeted loan amount is 200.000,00€, this means the funding campaign can close with any amount between 200.000,00€ and 250.000,00€ on the end date.
