Gabrimat is a family company dedicated to industrial casting in the region of Leiria. Founded in 1990 and in its 2nd generation, the company is increasingly concerned about energy and resources efficiency.
The project consists on installation of photovoltaic solar panels for the factory’s self-consumption with 94 kWp of installed capacity. This step will allow Gabrimat to become less dependent on the energy prices rise, therefore becoming more competitive, meanwhile it reduces its environmental footprint.
The transition to renewable energy will have a great impact on this industrial sector since it contributes to 1,5% to the national GDP. This is the second effort of Gabrimat towards sustainability, having already adopted an internal zero-waste policy by integrating defective products into a new cycle of production, through recycling.

This project is a photovoltaic power plant installation with 291.5 kWp at the Sacopor factory in Alenquer, Portugal. This project is already licensed and has a feed-in tariff guaranteed and fixed for the period of 15 years. This project will be a pilot for CIMPOR, InterCemet group, in the course of decarbonizing its energy consumption, producing about 475 MWh of clean electricity per year, approximately equivalent to annual consumption of 150 Portuguese families and avoiding the emission of 221 tons of CO2 per year to the atmosphere, equal to planting about 22,000 trees.
