The goal of this campaign is to finance the acquisition and installation of an 11,88kWp photovoltaic system for self-consumption and the replacement of conventional lighting for LED lighting in the São Cristóvão Parish Social Centre, a non-profit institution in Alentejo (Portugal) that provides social services for the elderly and the surrounding communities.
Both the LED system and the solar power plant (consisting of 36 modules of 330 Wp) will allow for significant energy savings in comparison with the current consumption. As solar power becomes less and less expensive, the better the business case for producing electricity for self-consumption, especially in regions with high sun exposure such as Alentejo.

The São Cristóvão Parish Social Centre is a non-profit Private Social Solidarity Institution (IPSS) in Alentejo, Portugal, founded in 1997. Its mission is to provide social services for the elderly while supporting surrounding communities. The institution offers 3 main types of services: a Nursing Home, a Day Center and a Home Support Service. The institution currently supports 36 people in total (20 elderly residents in its old people’s home, 9 through the home support service and 7 in the day centre) and it has 17 employees (among them helpers, technical staff, a doctor, a nurse and an entertainer).
