With the motto "giving more life to the years", Liga dos Amigos da Matança is a non-profit organization (IPSS), based in Matança, District of Guarda (Portugal).

This campaign aims to fund the installation of a photovoltaic power plant for self-consumption on the premises of the Liga dos Amigos da Matança. The plant, with 37 panels of 550W and a power output of 20.35kW, will make it possible to significantly reduce electricity costs and cut CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

Social promotion and economic and social development of the parish of Matança
Cultural, recreational, and sports initiatives.

Contribution to the decarbonisation, avoiding CO2 emissions: With a total production of clean energy of over 30.8 MWh per year, the solar plant will avoid the emission of about 4.2 tons of CO2 per year. This is equivalent to the CO2 absorption of 192 trees.
Cost reduction for the end customer: decentralized energy production through renewable sources, close to the place of consumption, helps to avoid distribution costs, this being the most competitive option. In addition, the company's lower dependence on the national grid makes it less vulnerable to price fluctuations and tax charges.

Improvement of the organization's core services: the cost reduction in electricity expenses enables the association to improve their services for the community.

Liga dos Amigos da Matança

The Liga dos Amigos da Matança (League of Friends of Matança), based in the parish of Matança, municipality of Fornos de Algodres, district of Guarda, Portugal, began supporting the elderly in 2002.

Initially, the institution had only two social responses: a Day Center and a Home Support Service. In 2015, they enlarged the building and started a Residential Structure for the Elderly, with the capacity to host seventeen people.

However, given that this capacity did not meet the great demand for this social service, in 2021 the Board decided to carry out extension work in order to host twenty-seven people.

The institution has invested in rehabilitating the building, increasing the capacity and training of human resources, and ensuring that the elderly enjoy a quality service and feel as if they are in their own home. To this end, they have a multidisciplinary team made up of senior technical staff: Social Worker, Doctor, Nurses, Psychologist, Animator, Nutritionist, Physiotherapist.
