Refinancing solar plants for collective auto consumption.

Description

Eco2Next's mission is to make photovoltaic self-consumption accessible to everyone. They specialize in photovoltaic installations on residential buildings, where most of the population lives. The promoter offers the option of payment as a percentage of the actual savings on the electricity bill so that everyone can join, encouraging production and distribution and making people less dependent on the big electricity companies.

The funds raised through this campaign will be used to refinance two solar plants for collective auto consumption located in condominiums in Sant Andreu de la Barca and in Sabino Arana, in the district of Barcelona, in Spain.

In the first plant coordinates 414347, 4588801, a total of 17 kW was installed. The plant produces around 27550 MWh of clean energy per year.

In the second plant coordinates 426871.90, 4581948.69 a total of 12 kW was installed. The plant produces around 19530 MWh of clean energy per year.

The Impact

Direct

  • Contributing to the decarbonization of the economy, by avoiding the emission of CO2: with an estimated clean energy production of over 47 MWh annually, both solar plants will help avoid the emission of more than 6.4 tonnes of CO2, equivalent to planting 293 trees.
  • Cost reduction for the final client: the energy production for own consumption will reduce energy costs from 40% to 50%. The decentralized energy production through renewable sources, close to the consumption site, helps to avoid distribution costs, making this a more competitive option than reverting to the national grid. Furthermore, the decreased dependency of the organisation on the national grid, makes it less vulnerable to price fluctuations and fiscal charges.

The Promoter

About Eco2Next Solutions SL

Eco2Next was born in 2010, winning the award for the best business plan from the Barcelona City Council and in 2011, the award for the second best green business initiative, given by the Spanish Ministry of Sustainability.

The company's goal was the massive implementation of self-consumption in residential buildings in Spain. However, due to legislation issues the initial focus of the promoter was energy efficiency contracts for the common services of buildings. This way they got to know the market and validate its business model based on a percentage of savings. In this case, savings are obtained through installing LED lighting and sensors, as well as tariff and energy optimization. Currently, Eco2Next has more than 100 active clients, which makes them leaders in Barcelona.

Recently, in accordance with new legislation, the company started installing photovoltaic panels, following the initial plan and marking its position in the market. The promotor has already completed 5 collective self-consumption installations in residential buildings in Barcelona.

The company is also part of the City Council's MES Barcelona program that will help Eco2Next's scalability.
