Candam Technologies is a Barcelona‑based company that develops smart waste‑management solutions combining proprietary hardware, advanced sensors, software and AI. Its patented RecySmart platform identifies recyclable materials in real time, generates high‑value data for cities and companies, and engages citizens through incentive‑based systems that improve recycling performance. Candam's mission is to enable more transparent, efficient and circular waste systems, helping municipalities and businesses meet regulatory requirements while reducing environmental impact.

The company is seeking financing to support its working capital needs as it scales production and accelerates commercial deployment. The funds will be allocated to five areas: 

• Working capital for sales growth: to finance components and the production of new device batches, cover logistics and installation for ongoing contracts, and bridge long payment terms from public administrations and large accounts.
• Equipment and IT: to acquire workstations for operational and commercial teams, testing and calibration tools, and productivity or cybersecurity software licenses.
• Product and technology development: to support continuous improvements in firmware, hardware, and digital platforms, as well as certification and testing processes required for market compliance.
• Commercial conversion activities: to support proofs of concept, client demonstrations, closing materials, participation in industry fairs, and business travel linked to contract execution.
• Operational costs and reserves: to cover platform, legal, and insurance expenses, and to create a contingency buffer.

Candam’s technology integrates smart container devices, AI‑based material recognition, and a cloud analytics platform that provides real‑time insights into recycling behaviour and system performance. All hardware is assembled by specialised partners in Catalonia, while software development is done in‑house to ensure full control over data integrity and product evolution.

By improving how waste is identified, measured, and managed, Candam aims to help cities, companies, and citizens adopt more efficient and circular recycling systems.

The Impact

Contribution to reduce and prevent pollution: Candam’s RecySmart solutions aim to increase packaging recovery rates by incentivizing citizens’ to correctly dispose of waste in public and private settings. The technology is easily integrated within the public infrastructure and enables accurate identification of the waste deposited allowing for traceability and control of contaminants and offer loyalty programs of packaging return too. And in general, the system contributes to an increase of around 20% in the recycling rate and 97,7% of waste being correctly recycled, reaching over 2 million package units. 

Improve waste management: The technology is able to improve the waste management of public and private agents due to characterization and recycling of different packaging, associated with incentives programs in which people take advantage of their recycling habits. Currently, Candam has over 9.000 users of their systems, and forecasts to reach 43 million users within the loan’s four years, with an average of 75 users per installed device and 211 tonnes of packaging correctly identified and recycled

Use of technology and innovation for a circular economy: Candam developed its solution in a way it can upgrade any regular waste bin into a Smart Bin through a validated multisensor technology capable of detailed material recognition, collection of learning data with artificial intelligence and use of citizen identification resulting in an efficient proof of disposal system, which is reliable, traceable and fraud-resistant to meet EU and national obligations. The loan will enable Candam to continue improving the sensors’ precision and data processing.

Creation of jobs: this loan will enable the promoter Candam to hire four new people for full-time and permanent positions.

Guarantees

 The loans granted to the promoter CANDAM TECHNOLOGIES SL by investors will be secured, as provided for in the loan agreements associated with the campaign, by the following: 

• Pledge of credit rights: pledge on the collection rights (commercial credits) that CANDAM TECHNOLOGIES SL (‘Pledgor’) holds against its client ACCIONA SERVICIOS URBANOS SL – OHL SERVICIOS INGESAN SA – VALORIZA SERVICIOS MEDIOAMBIENTALES SA UTE (‘Client’), a Spanish entity based in Madrid and with tax identification number U72456379, arising from two service provision contracts signed in April 2023 and May 2025. The term of these contracts is governed by their provisions (including any extensions or renewals), with the pledge on the collection rights arising from them remaining in force while they are in effect and there are pledged credit rights.

Its intelligent devices use acoustic techniques, sensor fusion, and AI‑based recognition to identify packaging with high accuracy, while the cloud platform processes this information to support operational and environmental decision‑making.

Candam’s hardware is assembled by specialised partners in Catalonia, and all software development is carried out in‑house to maintain full control over system architecture, data integrity, and product evolution. The company also collaborates with European technology partners to strengthen integration capabilities and advance next‑generation AI development.

Since its creation, Candam has expanded its presence to 11 countries, deploying thousands of devices across the Iberian Peninsula and other European markets. Its team brings together expertise in IoT, machine learning, firmware development, and sustainable operations.

Alessandra brings over 15 years of international experience in business development, operations, and strategy across the software and education sectors. With an Executive MBA and a Digital Business Diploma from ESADE, she combines strategic vision with operational rigor to lead Candam's expansion and alignment with EU sustainability and circular economy objectives.

Jordi Berguinzo Martínez

CSO & Founder

Jordi has more than 13 years in the packaging sector, ranging from R&D research to business management for one of Europe's largest flexible packaging companies. He holds a BSc and MSc in Chemical Engineering from Universitat de Barcelona.

Mario Gutiérrez

CTO

Telecommunications Engineer, with a degree in Telecommunications Engineering and over 10 years of experience in embedded software, agile leadership, and product management. He has led international technology teams as Software Lead and Scrum Master across the automotive and pharmaceutical sectors. Currently Technological Director at Candam Technologies, driving tech roadmap and value delivery.
