Descripción

HealthTech Lisboa is a venture builder whose mission is to support the creation of companies and startups in health technologies and entrepreneurs in their first years of activity.

As part of its activity, network, and based on its know-how, HealthTech Lisboa is developing a project called Healthtech Portugal - a response to the challenges of Digital Transformation - providing crucial infrastructure for SMEs and startups to test and validate their solutions in the area of health, medical devices, health tech, and cosmetics. This project provides services so that SMEs and startups in the sector can scale their business at a competitive cost, making their products and services commercially viable and giving the necessary support to significantly increase the success rate of entrepreneurs.

The project's primary goal is to provide a differentiating solution, having already been approved by the "Desenvolvimento de Projetos no âmbito da medida Rede Nacional de Test Beds" (Development of Projects under the National Network of Test Beds), which is also a source of funding. To secure further funding, HealthTech Portugal is launching this campaign.

The funds raised through Gopsarity's impact investing community will be used to achieve the following objectives:

  • Simulate and test innovative health products or services with a solid technological or digital component to achieve a Technology Readiness Level between levels 5 and 9.
  • Create highly qualified jobs.
  • Create partnerships with relevant entities in health and MedTech (technology for medicine).
  • Provide capacity-building services to SMEs and startups.
  • Accelerate growth and market readiness for SMEs and startups in the health area.
  • Ensure the economic and financial sustainability of the project in the post-financing period.

HealthTech Portugal aims to contribute to the development and consolidation of the biomedicine cluster, medical devices, and health technology in Portugal, considered strategic action points by the previous Portuguese Government for the central region of the country where it will be implemented (Covilhã). The project will promote technology and scientific know-how transfers from universities and national and international R&D institutions, creating opportunities for links between academia and business, as well as opportunities for the co-creation of solutions by all stakeholders in the system.

El impacto

  • Support and promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship: Healthtech Portugal is part of the national test bed network. A solution for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and technology startups in the health area to test, validate and scale their business solutions. Initiatives in the area are driven to achieve high levels of technology readiness, to increase their success rate by 50%. The goal is to initially provide simulation and testing for 99 products or services with a strong technological and/or digital component, and to accelerate the growth and market adaptation of at least 26 SMEs and startups in the area of medical devices, health technology, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
  • Promotion of partnerships for knowledge and technology sharing: by connecting established companies, SMEs, startups and universities and institution of innovation and technological development, the project promotes the formation of partnerships between these actors for the co-creation of solutions, enabling the transfer and sharing of technology and scientific knowledge.
  • Promoting development in a strategic region of Portugal: the biomedicine and health technology sector is boosted with the implementation of the project in Covilhã, central region of Portugal.
  • Job creation: the project aims to create 10 highly qualified jobs for the operationalization of the test bed.
