Decarbonizing Colombia III

This campaign is one of several to fund the installation of photovoltaic plants in 17 organizations in Colombia.  

Direct:

• Contribution to the decarbonization in Colombia, avoiding CO2 emission: The whole operation is estimated to produce 4.650,57 MWh of clean and renewable energy per year, avoiding the emission of 1.934,02 tons of CO2 annually, the equivalent of planting 87.910 trees. 
  • This campaign will be responsible for funding the production of 348,79 MWh of clean energy per year and avoiding the emission of 145,05 tons of CO2 annually. This would be equivalent to planting more than 6.593 trees. 
• Cost reduction for the final clients: the decentralized energy production through renewable sources, close to the consumption site, helps to avoid distribution costs, making this a more competitive option than reverting to the national grid. Furthermore, the decreased dependency of the company on the national grid, makes it less vulnerable to price fluctuations and fiscal charges. It is estimated by Recap that the energy costs are reduced between 5% and 30% for their end clients in Colombia. 
• Support reduction of energy consumption: By providing services for improvements in energy efficiency use, Recap allows the companies to operate more efficiently, allowing around 50% reduction of energy consumption from the grid. 

Indirect:

• Promotion of solar decentralized energy: with its Solar Funds, Recap enables smaller organizations of many different sectors to transition to renewable energy sources. Through decentralized photovoltaic centrals, the organizations are less dependent on the national grid and improve the country’s clean energy consumption participation. 
• Support local companies: Recap partners with Colombian installers, providing them a financial option to clients interested in installing the solar plants. They ensure the companies are aligned with Recap’s values and apply screening criteria for the potential clients. Afterwards Recap makes its own financial and credit analysis. 

Recap Solar Fund II AB forma parte del grupo Recap Energy, una organización cuya misión consiste en cubrir la brecha global entre el capital institucional y los proyectos rentables de energía limpia, lo que contribuye a crear un futuro más sostenible.

Recap se constituyó en 2010 como consultora de actividades financieras sostenibles. Desde entonces, la empresa ha evolucionado y ha comenzado a ofrecer soluciones basadas en el modelo Energy as a Service (EaaS), o el uso de la energía como servicio por parte clientes de los sectores de la industria y el comercio en 2016.

Con un equipo técnico establecido en Tenerife, Recap comenzó la implementación de su modelo de negocio EaaS en España, en un principio centrado en las Islas Canarias, pero poco después se expandió al resto de la península (España y Portugal).

La expansión siguió y Recap abrió delegaciones en Colombia y los países nórdicos en 2018, Brasil en 2019 e India en 2020, donde se ofrecían soluciones similares de EaaS.

Recap sigue con su expansión geográfica en nuevos mercados consolidados, pero también busca ampliar su alcance tecnológico de almacenamiento y energía y aportar más opciones financieras a sus clientes.

Por el momento, Recap cuenta con tres mujeres accionistas y una mujer en su consejo de administración.

A día de hoy, la capacidad contratada por región es la siguiente:

• Suecia: 3,1 MWp en colaboración con Vattenfall
• España: 15.7 MWp (tejado) + 51 MWp (suelo)
• Colombia: 3.94 MWp + 40 MWp (suelo)
• Brasil: 55 kWp
• Portugal: 174 kWp
• India: 21,80 kWp

Hasta el momento, Recap cuenta con 71 clientes entre España, Portugal, Suecia, India y América Latina. La magnitud del proyecto varía entre 10 kWp y 5MWp.

Recap Energy ofrece soluciones personalizadas de energía a sus clientes, entre las cuales se incluyen movilidad eléctrica, almacenamiento de energía y sistemas de gestión energética.

Recap emplea a 45 personas, de los cuales cinco trabajan desde Colombia.
