ABOUT GOPARITY

Goparity is an impact finance platform that connects companies that need funding for sustainable projects with individuals and organizations who want to invest sustainably. Through our crowdlending platform, users can provide loans to entities that pursue sustainable projects. 

We have already financed more than 300 projects with more than 30 million euros and we are growing, both in terms of size and impact generated!

We were born in Portugal in 2017 but have since then financed projects and grown a large community of investors all around the world. In 2022, our community invested as much as the total invested in the previous years together since the company was founded. We are looking for smart creative people who want to take part in our mission to democratize the financial sector, for the good of people and our planet.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • We are seeking a legal professional (membership of the Portuguese Bar Association is not a requirement) to join our Legal & Compliance team to provide legal support and strategic advice to all areas of the business.
  • Someone eager to work in a startup collaborative environment, in a business that is constantly evolving.

ABOUT THE ROLE – KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As a Junior Legal Counsel, you will integrate the Legal & Compliance Department and report to the Senior Legal & Compliance Counsel.
  • Work with loan agreements and securities that are the base of the crowdlending services.
  • Provide support to all teams on daily operations, particularly the Risk, Commercial, and Operations Departments.
  • Support in managing external lawyers handling Goparity’s litigation cases, in Portugal and abroad.
  • Work and review internal procedures and policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations from CMVM.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and a desire to build strong working relationships with the other departments.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Demonstrating business acumen, intellectual curiosity, and creativity!

ABOUT YOU

Mandatory

  • Law Degree from a Portuguese University 
  • 1-3 years of experience in a law firm or legal department of a company
  • Advanced command of English

Bonus points for

  • Relevant professional experience in a law firm or in-house.
  • Experience in the banking & finance sector, and/or
  • Experience in drafting and reviewing agreements in Portuguese (and English), in particular loans and securities, under Portuguese law;

HIRING PROCESS 

The stages for this hiring process are: 

  1. CV Screening. 

  1. Screening interview (~15min). 

  1. Case study/Challenge. 

  1. Interview with your manager (~45min). 

  2. Interview with C-Level manager.

Salary range

     

Our offers are based on the annual salary cost for the company and, for this position, we have a budget of 19.000€ to 20.000€. Translating to everyday language, our range for this role is of a total gross package of 16.000€ to 18.500€.

         

Workplace

     

We are remote-flexible (even before Covid) – maximum liberty comes with full responsibility. We are based in Wonder Work (Bairro Azul) in Lisbon and have a desk in Barcelona, but you can work from anywhere if you do the work and comply with your team’s core working hours (09h00 to 12h00 and 14h00 to 17h00). We have one mandatory in-presence meeting, happening every quarter in Lisbon.
