The payment of the applicable taxes takes place as described below:
Investors do not need to be concerned either with the tax payment nor the declaration of income to the Portuguese tax authority as GoParity is responsible for the tax retention and subsequent declaration. You can check here the applicable tax rate.
The tax over earned interest from projects promoter by a non-portuguese entity shall be paid as a capital return obtained in the promoter's country of fiscal residency. In this case, GoParity does not retain tax, meaning the investor will be receiving the gross payment. In the Portuguese tax declaration (IRS), there is a section dedicated to income obtained abroad. Therefore, the investor has to include annex J in the IRS declaration Modelo 3 in order to declare the income obtained abroad.
In all cases, at the beginning of each year, you will receive a declaration for the previous year containing all necessary details.
